A message from the director

Welcome to GROW.

Hi Navigation Engineers,

I’m inviting you to a special GNSS Bootcamp with two editions: Madrid in December 2026 and Toulouse in June 2027.

It’s a three-day intensive experience to boost your satellite navigation skills, meet other engineers and learn with an industry mindset.

Seats are limited — join us, and I’ll see you at the camp!

The G-blocks

From fundamentals
to precise positioning.

Block 01

G-USER

GNSS technology & standard positioning

  • Understand GNSS principles, system architecture and the roles of space, ground and user segments.
  • Explore constellations, satellite orbits, clocks, navigation messages and the information needed by a receiver.
  • Build the pseudorange observation model and solve for receiver position and clock offset.
  • Identify ranging errors, satellite geometry and atmospheric effects, including ionospheric and tropospheric corrections.
  • Apply least-squares and weighted least-squares estimation to obtain a standard positioning solution.
  • Assess accuracy and performance through error budgets, geometry and practical positioning scenarios.
Block 02

G-SAFE

Safe & reliable positioning · SBAS and EGNOS

  • Understand the difference between accuracy, integrity, continuity and availability.
  • Explore SBAS corrections and integrity information for safety-critical applications, with a focus on aviation.
  • Understand EGNOS architecture: monitoring stations, processing facilities, uplink and signal-in-space.
  • Follow the processing chain from GNSS observations to correction generation and integrity monitoring.
  • Interpret protection levels and alert limits, and understand how they support a safe navigation solution.
  • Analyse performance and sensitivity to errors, geometry and different operating scenarios.
Block 03

G-PRECISE

High-precision positioning

  • Compare RTK, PPP and PPP-RTK: principles, correction strategies, infrastructure and operational trade-offs.
  • Understand carrier-phase measurements, ambiguities, cycle slips and their impact on high-precision positioning.
  • Explore precise orbit, clock and atmospheric products, and how they contribute to improved navigation solutions.
  • Study ambiguity resolution and the conditions needed to progress towards centimetre-level positioning.
  • Build intuition for Kalman filtering: state models, prediction, measurement updates and estimation of a precise navigation solution.
  • Analyse convergence, correction availability and sensitivity to measurement quality across different operating scenarios.
G-HANDS · Performance scenarios

Bring the concepts into practice.

Wrap up with a practical hands-on session using free tools to explore performance sensitivities across multiple scenarios and compare the positioning techniques covered during the Bootcamp.
